Our Ethos

At Wee Care we believe that the first years of a child’s life are fundamentally important. These are the cornerstone years that shape a child’s future.

We believe that children grow, learn and develop rapidly when they receive love, warmth, attention, encouragement, mental stimulation and nutritious well-balanced meals, with this in mind we promote in all of our nurseries:

  • a happy, fun-loving and relaxed atmosphere
  • a warm, loving, safe and caring environment
  • the use of positive language and behaviour at all times
  • dedicated, professional, long-term and highly qualified staff
  • healthy eating
  • the creation of a home from home-like environment
  • flexibility in childcare options
  • equality, irrespective of gender, race, religion or disability

Our People

Caitriona Barret (Monkstown branch)

Hi, my name is Caitriona and I have worked for WeeCare since April 2002. I started in WeeCare as a deputy- Coordinator and was promoted to Coordinator in July 2003 and have worked here ever since!

Before I started in WeeCare I lived in San Francisco and worked in a Chinese American school teaching English through the Montessori method of education.

I have a FETAC level 6 Qualification in the Montessori method of teaching 0-6 years, FETAC Level 5 Qualification in early childhood care and education and Certificates in management. I also keep my training up to date in the following areas first Aid, food safety and fire safety training. I am the Designated Safeguarding officer in Monkstown.

My 2 children now aged 7 and 9 years of age have gone through the nursery and they have always classified it as their home from home. I have been very lucky that many of the staff are still with me since I took over as coordinator in 2003. Together we strive every day to provide a stimulating and enriched environment for all the children in our care.
